Post #6: Reflection - Just reach out... always.

Updated: Apr 24

As the news spreads, I receive several random text messages from people that I have crossed paths with and have connection with, but don’t see that often but I’ve learned about my news. It’s an incredible feeling to know so many people are praying for me. It’s so very powerful. I am in awe. And I’m feeling so grateful for this community of friendships and family that I have.

So I guess the lesson I am learning… It no matter how long it’s been since you’ve seen someone or how close you are, or are not, to that particular person, reach out and share your feelings with them. Sharing signs of support and love and extending your prayers can really make a difference. I feel like I get messages when I am least expecting it and it just happens to be a moment that I just have great heaviness or worry or just in a dark hole. Its at these random ties, I will receive a message from someone at just the right time to bring me back and recenter me. I’m so eternally grateful for all of the amazingly supportive text messages, instagram messages, gifts, flower deliveries, food deliveries, calls, notes….. all of it. It helps as I battle this battle I am in. And seems to come at just the right time when I need it.

It's not about the flowers or the gifts - it's the notes, it's the text messages, it's the phone messages, instagram messages, facebook messages... THOSE MESSAGES ARE THE LOVE THAT PROVIDES THE STRENGTH. Knowing that people are praying for me, care about me, and take the time out of their day to check on me... this is what gives me my strength to keep fighting and moving forward during this challenging time. It is the feeling having the support and love of people around me that give me the motivation to get through this battle.

So if I can share anything and one of the many lessons that I will take away from this journey of mine, is JUST REACH OUT. If you are thinking of someone, care about someone, praying for someone... reach out and tell them. I promise you it will help that person gain a little more strength and feel better about whatever it is they are going through. Any time any day, whenever you are feeling it.  Reach out to someone you are thinking about.

I felt all the love and prayers that family, friends and my village was sending - THANK YOU ALL!
